Time to hit the road

Some motels have coin laundries and some don't. When they do, we try to find time to use them. If we are leaving soon and there are a limited number of dryers, we improvise. Hence, the arrangement of Emma clothes on the patio of the room Ben and I share in Thousand Oaks. She has little choice; we are leaving for Bakersfield soon.

After an uneventful drive up I-5 and 99 we pull into Bakersfield to our motel. Out back past the pool and hot tub are the railroad tracks. We consider jumping into the freight car and riding the rails back to Ohio.

But instead we go to the venue, an auditorium in the convention center in downtown Bakersfield.

Chad tapes down cords around the basketball floor that will serve as our tap and band stage for the school show and concert tomorrow.

While Dave works with the crew to get the lights set for the shows.

It's gone a little slowly; we stop at Von's to pick up dinner to cook in our microwaves at the motel...room-cooked meals! We are living large!
